From the Specialist to the Generalist: What You Need to Know About Stuttering
Many speech-language pathologist working in schools and other settings often report that stuttering is the most difficult disorder to treat. This is reported to be due to the limited training and course opportunities in graduate programs. Specialists in stuttering do exist, and can present important support to clinicians.
In this three hour seminar, Rodney Gabel, the only Board Recognized Specialist in Fluency and Fluency Disorders, will discuss current understanding of stuttering, contemporary research findings and provide some thoughts on how to provide appropriate services to children and adults who stutter. This seminar will connect well to future seminars on stuttering offered through AccuTx University.
This seminar is worth 3 contact hours and will be limited to 10 participants. The cost of attendnace is $45.
1. Identify contemporary definitions of stuttering.
2. Identify current research findings in stuttering.
3. Identify helpful ideas for assessment treatment.
All Friday Coffee Break Seminars will be held at the Toledo Speech and Stuttering Clinic, located at 3409 N. Holland Sylvania Rd., Toledo, OH 43615.
